We take live microbes into our bodies every day by different routes. Most of these pass through, like the water of rivers passing through a landscape en route to the sea. But some stay with us longer, and some even multiply and take up residence in our bodies, enriching the diversity of our microbiomes and keeping them healthy. Can you imagine that you are taking lots of different microbes into your bodies via your mouths and noses every day? Let’s get to know the microbial friends we regularly welcome into our bodies and where they come from. They have really interesting stories to tell us about their-our world and history. In this gallery, the focus is on individual microbes, not communities, which you can find in the Our regular microbe intake Gallery.
